The award for the best family cruiser for the year 2012/13 has been won by Beneteau Oceanis 38. The name was recently published on the 18th of January 2014when the European Yacht of the Year awards took place at Dusseldorf. It was a proud moment for the whole team who made this dream possible. The award was announced by Yachting World, one of the judges for this event. There were many other nominations for this award but the Oceanis 38 was the most deserving amongst them all.
The decision to make this boat the winner came because of various reasons out of which the first reason was the overall concept and the radical look it had. When the performance of this boat was considered it was found that the overall performance was far more superior than any other boat in the nomination list. The modest sail on the boat makes it perform better and on top of that the boat can be managed very easily. The boat has solid feet because of the twin rudders that have been added to this model. This was a drawback for the other models and this one has been a rectified one. For the cockpit the design has been made simple enough so that the helmsman can keep it under control and more importantly for the shorthand sailing it will be the best. According to the number of people on the yacht the accommodation area can be increased or decreased. In fact the interiors of the boat can also be changed as per the wish of the helmsman. According to the reports the boat will be available in three different options which are “Weekender”, “Cruising” and “Daysailer”. It is being said that by far this boat has been the best innovations yet in the field of yachting.
